I realize I lost the text here. I love these walls because you can see outside without windows. I don’t know why but I really don’t think we should have windows in the room. Also love that they look like bookshelves because of the horizontal bracing. This may be a dumb idea, but maybe there could be a few books stuck in there, or they could put them in there if there is space….Silly maybe, but, that’s what I’m here for. More explanation in next slide of sketches….

I realized in the section…if we want to use the scrim, we would lose some depth of the trees US. (Although, we may not be able afford so many anyway…). This one is pretty much the width of the Prosc. (about 35’) and about 20’w. at the US curtain that gets pulled down.

Roughly speaking, If we don’t seat the last 2 rows and the trees aren’t higher than the walls, it should be ok….I need to do a more accurate section, of course. That would be easier than having to do a perspective in the walls. We could rest a header on the DS curtain. The more I think about that, it would create a jewel box effect that maybe would make one think that is the whole set, although I wonder about lighting.

So these would be built like the research…I don’t know what we would have the budget for…but there would be spaces between. outside we could back it with a translucent fabric…like lightweight muslin, and we could either paint trees or vines or something that would be lit from behind, so you would get a sense of something out there. OR, we could have actual greenery outside. Not sure how that would work. we would need masking behind that then.

So there is a canvas curtain…lightweight enough to shine a light from US…maybe painted like the room. (wood could be warm natural or we can treat it like the research of the clapboards in the woods…I haven’t figured that out. But woody…). The idea of a red somehow doesn’t ring true for me…I keep seeing monochromatic at the start, at his point….

I was thinking that we could have a gobo light on the back so it looks like the curtain is in front of a window (that they are also not very interested in). Them when they open the curtain, there is no wall or windows there !

One of the things we need to think about is that if we don’t want to see the extended room until the end, it might have to be shorter than the front. These walls at 9’, that won’t mask from the top row.

I angled the walls in some. I don’t know if the effect of the walls will work as well if they go straight back. There would still probably need to be exaggerated spaces in the walls. Also, that would be a lot of area to fill, so $$. But we can play with it.

At the end I put the very rough model photos and some of our favorite research and a couple of new things maybe. I will probably add more. By the way, these sketches are, like, from the 3rd row, cause of where the paper was sitting…I couldn’t get further away. Perspective sketches never look right to me!

This is where they would open the drapes and the wagons could come in. I don’t know how many you want. But US of that is a tree or 2, ad the beginning of ground…maybe some piles of wood chips or something…so it looks like they just dug up all the trees to bring them into the room! (I always have to rationalize everything, it appears). And there is another curtain there…maybe sky? Or greenish washy thing? Or? It don’t think it would have fullness…maybe more of a backdrop? Then…..

At some point, the curtain just drops to the ground and reveals a whole bunch of trees…a grove, that goes as far back at we want, there is no back wall. Maybe we could use their full stage black and give it some deep blue color. I don’t know what shape trees we want. Apple trees tend to be shorter and squatter. Pine trees? More trunks than trees ? More stylized?

My neighbor has one of those laser firefly projectors and it is beautiful. We have woods behind our houses and he shines it into the trees. He doesn’t use the part that colors the trees blue as well, just the fireflies…something that US would be beautiful. or maybe all over ?

Or if it’s daylight and we blast light into the trees through the walls and DS at the audience…that could be cool too. Maybe.

Maybe we float some pages down from the grid….at some point?
